My name is Jason Pestano and I am currently doing a Post-Graduate Degree in TESOL as well as teaching ESL in Japan. My profesor recommended your idea about jigsaw listening. I used it in twice this week in class and it went well. It was pretty challenging for students, but they enjoyed it because it was totally different from what they are used to doing with listening activities. I put all of my listening content on my phone (and play it with a Bluetooth speaker) so I didn’t use Audacity. I used a free app called “music editor.” It took a while to get used to it, but it’s great (except for the annoying ads).
Thanks again for the idea. I’ll definitely try to implement some of your other ideas in my classes.
